Our favorite Jaguars player props for Week 8 against the Packers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking on the Green Bay Packers at 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday. Here are our favorite player prop bets (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook) for this week’s contest.
Brian Thomas Jr. over 57.5 receiving yards (-113)
This line is simply too low for a player averaging 73.3 yards per contest in his first seven NFL games. Thomas Jr. has perhaps the toughest matchup of his young career against Green Bay’s star cornerback Jaire Alexander and ball-hawking safety Xavier McKinney, but he also torched Christian Gonzalez last week in what was supposed to be a poor on-paper matchup. Thomas Jr. is already reaching “inevitable” levels of stardom.
Evan Engram over 50.5 receiving yards (-113)
The Packers have allowed the seventh-most targets, catches and yards to tight ends this season. Look for the Jaguars offense to try to get the ball out quickly to Engram on early downs against Packers linebackers. That’d go a long way towards slowing their pass rush.
Christian Kirk under 44.5 receiving yards (-113)
Kirk has passed this number three times in seven games this season, with all three occurrences sans Engram in the lineup. He also has three games with 1 reception this year. Kirk has officially been passed in the pecking order by Thomas Jr. and Engram.
Jayden Reed over 57.5 receiving yards (-113)
Jayden Reed longest reception over 22.5 yards (-120)
Reed has eight gains of 20-plus yards this season. While all but two of those plays were against the Eagles and Vikings, the Jaguars’ secondary has allowed one of the biggest explosive play rates in the league. And they’re particularly vulnerable out of the slot. Rookie Jarrian Jones had a solid performance last week as the starting nickel cornerback but he’ll likely have a target on his back this afternoon.
Josh Hines-Allen over 0.5 sacks (+210)
Darnell Savage over 0.5 interceptions (+525)
Two fun ones, as the Jaguars need to force at least one turnover to win this game. Hines-Allen has just 2.5 sacks on the season but his 9 quarterbacks are one more than Travon Walker has — I expect him to start making more plays sooner than later. Meanwhile, Savage will be facing his former team and is perhaps the biggest playmaker in Jacksonville’s secondary. I won’t be including these in the betting slip, FYI, since they’re such high odds.
