This has been lingering

Another NFL owners meetings has passed by and yet, Tom Brady’s attempt to finally become a minority owner the Las Vegas Raiders is still not past the goal-line.

It was expected going into this week’s league meetings in Nashville that the Brady-Raiders marriage would likely not be on the agenda. Indeed, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters Wednesday that progress is being made, but issues remain on the Brady-Raiders pairing. At the previous owners meetings, Goodell said progress was being made as well.

Still, nothing has been completed.

Mr. Tuck Rule and Raiders’ owner Mark Davis agreed on Brady buying a piece of the team in May of 2023. Now, it’s official. In March, 2023, Brady became a partial owner of the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA, their majority owner is Davis.

The NFL’s issues on approving the sale to Brady reportedly have been financially based.

Brady will still be able to move on with his role as a FOX game analyst in 2024 even though he joined the Raiders’ ownership group.

Brady has said becoming a part owner of an NFL team is a dream come true. He did note he will have a “passive” role with the team. Thus, don’t expect him to be part of the on-field decision making if/when he joins the Raiders’ ownership group.

Last month, Appearing on a podcast with VicBlends, the retired legendary quarterback twice said he “opposed” to suiting up and playing again. Furthermore, Brady, who turns 47 in August and who retired after the 2022 season, mentioned the Las Vegas Raiders by name among the teams he would play for.

Brady also acknowledged that he doesn’t know if the NFL would allow him to play for any team if he became a team owner. Brady has been in talks for more than a year to become a minority owner of the Raiders. It has been a long, complicated process.

And, it’s not over yet.
