That’s four losses in a row for our beloved Bears, but the silver lining is the change to Thomas Brown at offensive coordinator provided a mini spark, and Caleb Williams flashed for much of the afternoon.

Unfortunately, head coach Matt Eberflus continued to make a clusterflus out of his late-game management, and the Bears fell short. It was his ninth fourth-quarter blown lead since being hired by the Bears, and it dropped his record in one-score games to 5-14 (.227), which is the worst mark among active NFL head coaches. For some perspective, the next worst on the list is Zac Taylor at 21-32 (.396), and the best is Kevin O’Connell at 22-10 (.688).

At this point, I’m just hoping that Brown and Williams can consistently get the offense on track so that Williams has something to build on in 2025 because I can’t see any scenario in which Eberflus is retained.

I suppose a miraculous run that ends up with ‘Flus and the Bears in the Super Bowl could change my tune, but I’d be surprised if the Bears can even win one more game this season.

Is there any scenario — I suppose I should have prefaced the question with “realistic” — that would make you want the Bears to keep Matt Eberflus?

Vote on that and our weekly confidence question in the survey below, and we’ll share your results in a couple of days.
