Predicting offensive stat lines for some of the Saints stars.

The New Orleans Saints enter 2024 with a need to get better on offense. Even though they ended the season as the 10th best team in terms of points per game, it just felt like they still had a lot of room for improvement. This year, the Saints brought in new offensive coordinate, Klint Kubiak, in hopes that he can turn things around.

The preseason is now over and we’re two weeks away from the Saints season opener against the Carolina Panthers, so I thought we’d go through and try to predict stat lines for some of the Saints top offensive weapons.

This is assuming that everyone stays healthy and plays all 17 games, but someone will almost certainly miss some time which will skew some of these numbers.

QB Derek Carr

Carr wasn’t great last year, but he also wasn’t awful statistically. He threw for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. I think his stat line in 2024 will look pretty similar to last year’s. They’ll probably lean on the run game a bit more in 2024, so I would be surprised if he’s a 4,200+ yard passer.

Prediction: 3,950 yards, 27 TD, 9 INT

WR Chris Olave

Olave missed one game last year but was still able to record 87 catches for 1,123 yards (12.9 YPC) and score five touchdowns. Another year with Carr and Michael Thomas gone, (even though he only played 10 games) means Olave sees an increase in production in his third season.

Prediction: 95 receptions, 1,310 yards, 8 TD

WR Rashid Shaheed

Shaheed took a huge leap in his second year, becoming the Saints second leading receiver with 46 catches for 719 yards (15.6 YPC) and five scores. I think he will also see an increase in production in his second season with Carr, and I think he could close in on that 1,000-yard mark.

Prediction: 59 catches, 912 yards, 7 TD

RB Alvin Kamara

Is this the year that we will see Kamara get back to elite form? I don’t know if he can be the same guy that we saw in the late Drew Brees years, but I think he’s in for an increase in production this season under Kubiak. I think his rushing numbers could be similar, but as a receiver, I expect them to get him involved in more than just check downs.

Prediction: 170 rushes, 731 rushing yards, 72 receptions, 600 yards, 11 total TD

TE Juwan Johnson

Many thought that Juwan Johnson would have a pretty decent size role in the Saints offense last year, but an ankle injury caused him to miss four games. He’s the TE1 again this season, and if he’s healthy, I think he could get some decent work.

Prediction: 65 receptions, 555 yards, 4 TD
