Horse Tracks: Broncos defense leads NFL in quarterback pressures

Vance Joseph has the Denver Broncos defense playing at an elite level and its all powered by his pressure packages.

If you are looking for the driving force of the Denver Broncos defense this season it has to be the pass rush. Vance Joseph has dialed up some of the most creative pressure packages through the first seven games and the result has been an NFL’s best pressure rate to start the season.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Broncos lead all teams with a whooping 156 pressures this season. That is 16 more than the next best team on the list.

Pressuring opposing quarterbacks consistently leads to so many other good outcomes for the defense. Many of us can recall how great that 2015 defense was and it too was entirely driven by the insane pass rush that squad had, but this Broncos defense is also good on the back end too and that has led to a very good defense in 2024.

If this team can find some consistency on offense too, then they have the defense to make a push for the playoffs this season. Vance Joseph is definitely cooking this year.
