With their win against the Carolina Panthers today, Head Coach Sean Payton and his Denver Broncos squad is 3-0 against former NFC South rivals. You love to see it!
After devouring the Carolina Panthers at home on Sunday, the Denver Broncos are now 5-3 on the season. They are winners in five of their last six games and one of the hottest teams in the National Football League. Best of all? They look like a formidable playoff contender as the second half of the season approaches and still have a lot of room for improvement.
It’s quite the accomplishment. Especially when you consider the franchise is dealing with the largest dead cap money hit in league history coupled with a roster filled with young players acclimating to his system. It’s a testament to Payton’s coaching prowess and ability to get his players prepared week in and week out. Fans should be proud of the results we’ve seen thus far.
It’s been a long time since we have seen a team so competitive week in and week out. They’ve won decisively in their last three victories. Even in their losses, the team has been competitive and for the most part the games have been close. Most certainly, the team’s competitive spirit week in and week out is a breath of fresh air all of Broncos Country has been waiting so long for.
Their opponents? Not so much. Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn wasn’t too happy about Head Coach Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos trying to run up the score this afternoon. Well guess what, Horn. It’s the big leagues and teams play to win. You don’t like it? Do a better job stopping the opposition.
With decisive wins against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, and the aforementioned Panthers, Payton’s NFC South revenge tour is going quite nicely. He is a perfect 3-0 against them this year. No doubt his fifteen years in that division helped with the weekly preparation against those teams. Experience matters.
In a few weeks’ time he and the Broncos will have an opportunity to get that to a perfect 4-0 mark when they host the Atlanta Falcons after a tough two-game road stretch against the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs. With each and every week that passes, the Broncos are finding themselves and cultivating a winning culture. I’m excited to see that continue and am proud of their efforts thus far.
It’s been a while to see such quality coaching across the board in the Mile High City. Not only that, but it’s also really fun to think about how good this team can be with another draft and free agency session this coming offseason. The present and future looks really bright in Denver and Payton’s a big reason for that.
