Giants make roster moves for Week 10

Graham Gano is being activated off injured reserve to handle placekicking duties for the New York Giants on Sunday morning against the Carolina Panthers.

Gano has been on IR since suffering a right hamstring injury while trying to cover a kickoff on the first play of a Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders.

Gano, 37, has missed seven games. Greg Joseph went 13 of 16 (81.3%) on field-goal attempts over six games until going on IR himself with an oblique injury. Rookie Jude McAtamney kicked an extra point and a 31-yard field goal last Sunday against the Commanders after being elevated from the practice squad.

This is the second consecutive season during which Gano has missed significant time due to injury. He kicked in only eight games last season, landing on injured reserve with a knee injury.

The Giants will also have punter Jamie Gillan back. Gillan has missed four games with an injury to his left (kicking) hamstring.

The Giants did not have to release a player to make room for Gano since their roster was at 52 players.

Practice squad elevations

The Giants will be without wide receiver Darius Slayton (concussion) and wide receiver/special teamer Bryce Ford-Wheaton (Achilles). Both have already been ruled out of Sunday’s game.

Veteran wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins and linebacker/special teamer Curtis Bolton will be elevated from the practice squad. This will be Hodgins’ third and final elevation. To be available on game day after this, Hodgins would need to be added to the 53-man roster.
