On Tuesday, the New York Giants added offensive lineman Tyre Phillips and quarterback Tim Boyle to their practice squad.

Phillips, 27, was the Baltimore Ravens’ third-round pick out of Mississippi State in 2020. He played in 22 games over two seasons in Baltimore, starting 13.

Phillips played 22 games for the Giants (starting 14) from 2022-23 with a stop on the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad sprinkled in the middle. He suffered a quad injury in Week 17 last season and was not re-signed by the Giants this offseason.

Boyle, 30, is a well-traveled backup quarterback by trade who has played for Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, the Jets, Houston, and Miami. He has five NFL starts to his credit.

Boyle is likely here to fill out the quarterback room and serve as the emergency quarterback as it has become obvious the Giants do not want to put Daniel Jones back out on the field under any circumstances.

Jones has a $23 million injury guarantee in his contract. The Giants will almost certainly cut him loose after this season.

In corresponding roster moves, the Giants have released linebacker Curtis Bolton, offensive lineman Garret Greenfield, and fullback Jakob Johnson from their practice squad.
