The Denver Broncos won convincingly when they were expected to win convincingly and that is significant. Here are Mile High Report’s game balls for this game!
The Denver Broncos took care of business against a Carolina Panthers team they were expected to beat. Despite falling down early due to a turnover, the Broncos then scored 28-unanswered points and moved to 5-3 on the season. The tests get much harder in the coming weeks with road games against the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.
For the win over the Panthers, here are Mile High Report’s game balls!
I had a pleasant drive through the Oregonian outback in Eastern Oregon all day yesterday, so when I got home I made sure not to turn on any computers or check online. Instead, I kicked back and watched a taped Broncos game. That was fun!
What was also fun was watching that Broncos defense on Sunday. This unit has been something of a surprise for me all year. I knew they’d likely be decent, but Joseph is dialing up some of the best defensive play since that 2015 season. He likely won’t be getting much sleep this week though, because the Baltimore Ravens offense is the best they’ll face all season. Even so, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Broncos play defense this season. Have a game ball, Vance! - Tim Lynch
Bo Nix had his best game of the season, and the Broncos offense was clicking. Nix was seeing the field incredibly well, he went through his progressions, he was accurate and he didn’t have happy feet. This is the type of performance that can lead to even better things — for Nix and the Broncos. Nix finished 28-for-37 passing for 284 yards and three touchdowns. He also had five carries for four yards and a rushing touchdown. For those keeping track, Nix had a hand in all four TDs. Even better? He didn’t turn the ball over. Two more stats tell the story of how well Nix played. Denver was 11 of 17 on third down and 4-for-5 in the red zone. Have a day, Nix. - Ian St. Clair
So I’ve been giving the Bronco TE group flack because they have been the worst in the league through seven weeks, but that changed on Sunday and the biggest part of that was Adam Trautman who hauled in four catches for 85 yards and 1 amazing one-handed TD catch. Lucas Krull and Nate Adkins would combine for 3 catches, 21 yards and 1 TD. The Bronco TEs came into the game with 17 catches for 136 yards, 0 TDs and only 4 first downs. They amassed 7 catches for 106 yards and 2 TDs in this game alone. If Adam and friends can become a threat in the passing game, it makes the Bronco offense that much more dynamic. - Joe Mahoney
Bo Nix isn’t the only 2024 Bronco...
