It seems like just a few weeks ago the Philadelphia Eagles were in disarray after the way last season ended and this season started.
They reached the Super Bowl during the 2022 season, then in 2023, they started 10-1 only to lose five of their last six regular season games before they got routed in the wild-card round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Right now, though, they’re 6-2 and looking like a Super Bowl contender again.
The big change has been the addition of running back Saquon Barkley, who was brought in as a free agent during the offseason.
One FOX Sports host said that the Eagles’ renewed emphasis on the running game has sparked their recovery and resurgence.
“Philadelphia has committed to the run. That’s what’s turned them around,” Broussard said on “First Things First.”

Through eight games with his new team, Barkley has run for 925 yards and six touchdowns, which nearly matches his totals from last season in 14 games with the New York Giants.
Thanks to him, entering Week 10, the Eagles rank second in the NFL in rushing yards per game and second in total rushing touchdowns.
Barkley has taken quite a bit of pressure off of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who isn’t playing very well but does have eight rushing touchdowns.
Last season, defense was Philadelphia’s biggest problem, but it has also improved in that category and ranks ninth in points allowed and third in total yards allowed per game.
They next play the struggling Dallas Cowboys before visiting the Washington Commanders, who are first in the NFC East, in what will be a major statement game for both teams.
