Hedley posted the message on his social media account Sunday.
Former New Orleans Saints punter Lou Hedley posted a heartfelt thank you to the Saints for giving him the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL.
Hedley wrote, “Huge thank you to the Saints organization for letting me pursue my dream of playing in the NFL and everybody that helped me get there. Met some amazing people and mates for life. Excited for the next side quest.”
The 31-year-old punter was entering his second season in New Orleans. After a strong competition at the position during training camp, the Saints opted to go with rookie Matthew Hayball, another Australian, who like Hedley got his start in the Australian Football League.
