Did the Bengals get a steal?

Now that the 2024 NFL Draft is over, the experts are grading how the Cincinnati Bengals did. Depending on who you listen to, you’ll find the Bengals rated anywhere between a C and an A.

ESPN’s Field Yates talked about some of his favorite value picks of the draft, and the Bengals’ selection of Tanner McLachlan made the list.

“McLachlan was one of my favorite sleepers in the class and my 113th-ranked player,” Yates said. “He has excellent size (6-foot-5, 244 pounds) and is an instinctive/smooth route runner with really good skills after the catch. Cincinnati was a rare team that leaned on a legitimate rotation of tight ends in 2023 (four consistently saw playtime), and McLachlan figures to be a part of something similar, with Mike Gesicki and fellow draftee Erick All also with the Bengals this season.”

McLachlan was ranked 176th on the ESPN Big Board. The Bengals tight end room is suddenly crowded with McLachlan joining Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson and the also newly drafted Erick All.

If McLachlan has a strong camp, he could force the Bengals staff to make some tough decisions this summer.
