Neal will get his first regular season action since 2023

The New York Giants will be starting Evan Neal at right tackle against the Carolina Panthers, per a report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, and formerly of the Houston Chronicle and Baltimore Sun

Wilson adds that Jermaine Eluemunor will move to left tackle in place of Chris Hubbard. Eleumunor has started at right tackle since joining the Giants, but has the versatility to play multiple positions.

This will be Neal's first significant action since suffering a high ankle sprain in 2023 that required surgery to repair. This may also be Neal's last chance to prove that he's a long-term answer for the Giants.

Neal has been a disappointment since being selected at 7th overall in the 2022 draft. While he's flashed his size and power, Neal has struggled with his feet, and maintaining consistent pad level. That's often compromised his pass protection.

Neal did see reps against the New York Jets in the preseason. While he surrendered a sack and suffered a setback with his ankle, he had a solid outing apart from that play.

The Giants have been developing Neal exclusively at right tackle. He'll be going against either Jadeveon Clowney or Charles Harris.
