Weekly check in on Philadelphia’s 2024 NFL Draft class.
The Eagles advanced to 8-2 with a … commanding ... win over Washington on Thursday Night Football. After a close few quarters, the Eagles pulled away in the final 10 minutes of the game to take lead in the NFC East race. Here’s a rookie review!
Every week I am hoping we will get Quinyon Mitchell’s first career interception. The problem is that teams are just sort of not targeting him. Against Washington, Mitchell was targeted once and didn’t give up a single catch. This is while he spent a good part of the game trailing Terry McLaurin, who isn’t exactly a slouch. Through 10 games, Quinyon Mitchell has given up 23 catches on 41 targets (per Pro Football Focus). For context, Sauce Gardner gave up 22 catches through the first 10 games of his rookie season and he was named All-Pro. So far, so good for the Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate.
This was Cooper DeJean’s worst game of his young career, but it still wasn’t awful. The Commanders picked on DeJean a bit in the middle of the field, and he also missed some tackles to give up excess yards. He still gave a lot in run support, but this was a good game for DeJean to learn from.
