Philadelphia’s young cornerbacks continue to shine.

The Eagles are 6-2 after a Kelly Green win at home against the Jaguars! The game itself was a bit of a roller coaster, with the Jaguars making it close late despite the game feeling like 3.5 quarters of Philly dominance. A win is a win, though, and the Eagles got notable performances from their rookies.

Quinyon Mitchell: A

Quinyon Mitchell was only targeted twice in this game. Mitchell had no problem blanketing Brian Thomas Junior and keeping the Jaguars passing game under wraps. While injuries definitely took Jacksonville’s passing game down a notch, Mitchell played like the lockdown cornerback the Eagles drafted him to be.

Cooper DeJean: A

Like his fellow rookie, Cooper DeJean had another great game. He held it down at slot cornerback, breaking up two passes on the day and preventing any big plays. He was also active against the run and helped keep the Jaguars offense anemic. The Eagles have quite a talented pair of rookie defenders.

The Rest

  • An AJ Brown injury meant Johnny Wilson was on the field a lot. Wilson had a touchdown called back due to offensive pass interference. Despite the penalty, Wilson actually looked great blocking on the perimeter runs.
  • Ainias Smith had two touches for two yards. The Eagles tried to get him going with a handoff on a jet sweep and a screen pass. Didn’t really work.
