The Denver Broncos haven’t been too severely impacted by injuries this season, and that’s been one of their more promising developments since Beau Lowery took over as the team’s VP of Player Health and Performance. Thursday’s injury report is another sign of the team’s progress in the health department.
The Broncos wrapped up Thursday’s practice in the afternoon and have just one practice remaining before they depart for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Reinforcements are on the way as all signs appear to indicate safety P.J. Locke will be ready to go on Sunday, barring any setbacks.
He returned to practice initially on Wednesday for the first time in two weeks and was a full participant. Locke was a full go once again on Thursday, which is a great sign for him returning back into the starting lineup next to Brandon Jones as they prepare for the challenge of Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce, and DeAndre Hopkins.
Defensive tackle D.J. Jones (knee) was a full participant for the second consecutive day, as was safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (knee), who is still in his 21-day window coming off of the PUP list. Defensive end Zach Allen (rest) was limited on Wednesday but upgraded to being a full participant on Thursday. Offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee) and center Luke Wattenberg (ankle) also upgraded to full participants on Thursday.
Outside linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) was the only limited participant.
Denver this season has been fortunate to only lose two players to season-ending injuries. Offensive lineman Quinn Bailey suffered a fractured ankle in training camp, and inside linebacker Alex Singleton tore his ACL in the Broncos Week 3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Aside from those two, most of Denver’s injuries have been short-term impacts.
