The Denver Broncos have announced their practice squad to gameday roster elevations for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Denver Broncos make several roster moves on Saturday

The Denver Broncos have made several roster moves today ahead of Sunday’s kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs. Denver is elevating inside linebacker Zach Cunningham and fullback Michael Burton from the practice squad to their gameday roster.

Cunningham will see his first elevation of the season, while Burton’s elevation will be his final allotment of the season. In order for Burton to play again this season after Sunday’s game, the team needs to bring him back onto the 53-man roster. As it currently stands, the Broncos would have to make a procedural move or two to free up space on the active roster for Burton to return, while Cunningham will revert back to the practice squad on Monday morning following the game.

For the last three weeks, the Broncos have elevated veteran linebacker Kwon Alexander to their gameday roster, where he played quite a bit, but he ran out of elevations and won’t be able to play again this season unless the team adds him to their active roster, which seems to be the teams plan at some point.

It will be worth monitoring whether or not Cunningham will play significant snaps this week compared to how Alexander did the last handful of weeks or if Denver’s defense will revert back to Cody Barton and Justin Strnad, seeing all the reps against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

In terms of roster gymnastics, Denver will have to make several anticipated moves in order to get players like Burton and Alexander on the 53-man roster, but they’ve also got important decisions coming up on Josh Reynolds, Tyler Badie, Drew Sanders, and Delarrin Turner-Yell.

All four players are in a position to return soon, especially Reynolds, but Sanders and Turner-Yell’s 21-day windows have already been activated, which means the team will have to decide on placing them on the active roster within those 21 days or both will revert to back to injured reserve and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Badie and Reynolds have been on the team’s side field for the last handful of days.

The Denver Broncos will kick things off tomorrow morning against Kansas City at 11:00 a.m. MT on CBS.
