Bills Mafia is riding high off Buffalo’s Week 8 win over the Seattle Seahawks — but there’s an important reason to be invested in the outcome of SNF in Week 8.

Sure, there’s plenty to talk about following the Buffalo Bills’ Week 8 road win against the Seattle Seahawks. We get it: The Bills game just finished over an hour ago, so fans might find it difficult focusing on tonight’s Sunday Night Football matchup featuring the Dallas Cowboys against the San Francisco 49ers.

The NFL waits for no one, and refuses to be denied its spotlight at every turn — even as I try to write this open thread in timely fashion after a late Bills win. So here we go! The Niners entered tonight’s game as 5.5-point (-5.5) home favorites with FanDuel Sportsbook against the Cowboys. Both teams have had endured a fair amount of adversity, but it’s pretty clear most bettors see the 49ers as the superior team.

Bills Mafia should root for San Francisco this evening. Why? As Rachel Auberger explained in her Buffalo Bills Week 8 rooting interests guide, it’s twofold:

Buffalo will host the 49ers right after their bye week, and at the moment has a fairly low SOS score, so facing teams without losing records is in their best interest. The 49ers have five weeks to get their record above .500, and this week would be a good opportunity for them to start moving in that direction.

At the same time, the Steelers lost to the Cowboys earlier this month, so a Dallas loss would lower their SOS score at the same time as increasing Buffalo’s. A two-for-one special here.

Sign me up for a Niners win, which means I can’t resist picking them tonight:
San Francisco 49ers 28, Dallas Cowboys 17

Here’s your open thread for Week 8 of Sunday Night Football. As always, be kind to each other and in all things... Go Bills!
