Dak Prescott injury: Cowboys quarterback expected to miss Eagles game in Week 10

Bad news for Dallas.

Dak Prescott is expected to miss multiple games due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, according to reports from NFL Media.

Additional context:

Prescott underwent an MRI after suffering the hamstring injury in the second half of Dallas’ 27-21 loss. The results were worse than initially feared. Pelissero added that the club hasn’t decided on whether to place Prescott on injured reserve, which would sideline him a minimum of four games.

Prescott will get a second medical opinion to confirm the treatment options.

This news means the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing a backup quarterback when they travel to AT&T Stadium in Week 10. Cooper Rush has been the No. 2 option behind Prescott this season but the Cowboys do also have Trey Lance on their roster.

The Cowboys have obviously been struggling even when Prescott’s been healthy; they’ve lost three straight games to fall to 3-5. Prescott’s turned the ball over nine times in his eight starts and the Mike Zimmer’s defense is allowing the second-most offensive points per game this season.

On paper, there’s every reason the Eagles should be able to take care of business against an inferior opponent. The Birds are now up to seven-point road favorites after opening up at -6.5.

Prescott’s injury isn’t the only medical issue the Cowboys are dealing with. CeeDee Lamb is playing through a shoulder injury that seems to be causing him discomfort, though he still might end up playing against the Eagles. Micah Parsons hasn’t been able to play since Week 4.

Division games can be more competitive than expected and it’s possible the Cowboys will rally around a backup quarterback. But this feels like a prime opportunity for the Eagles to really bury Dallas by dropping them to 3-6 before Prescott potentially misses some more starts.

The Eagles haven’t won in Dallas since 2017. Time for that to change.
