CJ Stroud And Micah Parsons Draft Their Perfect Offense And Defense To Hypothetically Face Off

I love sports hypotheticals, as I’m sure many of you do. Houston Texans star quarterback CJ Stroud and Dallas Cowboys star edge Micah Parsons have come up with one I think we’re going to be talking about for a long time.

The two superstars decided to draft teams of current players for a 4th and 3 situation on an episode of The Edge With Micah Parsons. Here’s how it shook out.

CJ Stroud’s Offense

CJ Stroud selected the following players for his team. He’s in 11 personnel (1 running back, 1 tight end, 3 wide receivers), which is base personnel for most NFL teams right now.

QB: CJ Stroud

RB: Jahmyr Gibbs

X Receiver: Davante Adams

Slot: Tank Dell

Z Receiver: Ja’Marr Chase

TE: Travis Kelce

LT: Laremy Tunsil

LG: Kevin Zeitler

C: Creed Humphrey

RG: Quentin Nelson

RT: Lane Johnson

Micah Parsons’ Defense

Micah Parsons selected the following players for his team. He’s in dime personnel, which means there will be six defensive backs.

DE: Micah Parsons

DT: Aaron Donald

DT: Chris Jones

DE: Myles Garrett

LB: Fred Warner

SUB: Kyle Hamilton

CB: Sauce Gardner

CB: Trevon Diggs

Nickel: Patrick Surtain Jr

Nickel: Jalen Ramsey

Safety: Derwin James

The Verdict

I’ve got to give the edge to Micah Parsons’ defense here, though I think it’s pretty close. Make no mistake, CJ Stroud has weapons all over the field, and he has guys that in Kelce, Gibbs, Adams, and Dell that are especially good in short yardage pass-catching situations, whether that’s due to their size, route running, hands, or agility. And, Ja’Marr Chase on the other side is someone that’s going to force you to keep your safety back, because you can’t play him 1v1 down the field. Plus, that’s a really good offensive line that against most actual fronts is going to hold up.

But, this defense is flat-out nasty. It starts up front with four of the best pass-rushers the game has ever seen. Imagine not being able to help on Aaron Donald because Chris Jones and Micah Parsons are next to him. And, on the other side of Chris Jones is Myles Garrett. That’s nightmare fuel for an offensive line, especially since Kelce isn’t going to want to stay in and chip. Plus, Fred Warner is there to crack down on anything over the middle, while Kyle Hamilton will likely man up Travis Kelce. Someone better win on the outside quickly, because Stroud might not be able to get through all of his progressions here.

4th and 3 is converted in the NFL a little less than half the time anyway, so I’ve got to give the edge to Micah Parsons and his defense.

I think we can all agree that we’d love to see these 22 guys take the field against each other in real life, though!
