The Kansas City Chiefs and tight end Travis Kelce have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension, as first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Rapport adds that the new deal will make him the NFL’s highest-paid tight end.

Kelce, 34, was drafted by the Chiefs out of Cincinnati in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Since then, he has been named to the 2010s All-Decade team, nine Pro Bowls and seven All-Pro teams. Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl champion.

The tight end is the franchise leader in career receiving yards, with 11,328. He has registered 75 touchdowns during his time in the NFL.

Kelce’s previous deal was set to conclude at the end of the 2025 NFL season, so now he is tied to Kansas City through 2027, when he will begin the year at the age of 37. No tight end in NFL history has ever recorded as many career receiving yards as former Chief Tony Gonzalez, who finished with 15,127.

After rumblings of retirement, Kelce told reporters in January that he had no reason to stop playing football, and this new contract indicates that is the case.
