Villanova’s Jaaron Hayek spent the weekend in Kansas City — and now he will participate in the offseason program with the Chiefs.

One of this past weekend’s rookie minicamp tryout players has made it to the Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason roster. The club has signed tryout wide receiver Jaaron Hayek, according to his post on social media.

Hayek, 22, spent the last five seasons as a member of Villanova’s football team. As mentioned, the 6-foot-1, 199-pound wide receiver attended the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp, where he impressed the team’s personnel staff to earn his place on the 90-man roster.

Hayek finished his final season (2023) with 35 catches for 457 yards and four touchdowns. His best season came in 2022 when he caught 36 passes for 810 yards and eight touchdowns. Hayek was named to the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) first team for those efforts.

Kansas City will have deep competition for six or seven wide receiver spots in the upcoming training camp. Based on the numbers at that position alone, Hayek projects as a practice-squad candidate.

Hayek will look to repeat last year’s path of defensive back Ekow Boye-Doe, who eventually worked his way from a rookie minicamp tryout invite to the 53-man roster.
