On Wednesday, the Chargers announced a pair of roster moves.
First, the team is signing safety Emany Johnson to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Chargers are releasing tight end McCallan Castles from the practice squad.
Johnson went undrafted after playing his collegiate ball at the University of Nevada. From 2018-2021, Johnson was also teammates with current Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley.
The 6β2, 216-pound safety was a First-Team All-Mountain West selection in 2023 after posting 100 total tackles, three interceptions, four pass breakups, and 3.5 tackles for loss in 11 starts. Following going undrafted in this yearβs NFL draft, Johnson signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys.
Castles was signed by the Chargers on October 15th. The 6β4, 244-pound tight end played his college football at the University of Tennessee and Cal-Berkley before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles.
