The Miami Dolphins are expected to get quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back for Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season. Do the FanDuel oddsmakers expect it to make a difference?
The Miami Dolphins did not have the first half of the 2024 NFL regular season they expected. The team is currently 2-4 on the season, holding second place in the AFC East but 10th place in the AFC playoff picture. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, coming off his first Pro Bowl selection, has been on injured reserve for the last five weeks, missing four games, due to a concussion. The team has struggled to score points this year, ranking dead last in the league after finishing 2023 as the second-highest-scoring team.
Heading into Week 8 of the season, the Dolphins are starting to see some rays of hope - if it is not too late to turn around the year. Tagovailoa is expected to return to practice and could be back under center for the team’s game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The oddsmakers at FanDuel sportsbook do not seem to trust the Dolphins, even if Tagovailoa is ready to play. They do have Miami favored for the game, but only by the three-point homefield advantage spread. The line started at 3.5 points, but has drifted slightly toward the Cardinals in early betting.
The Dolphins are -172 on the moneyline for the straight-up win, while the Cardinals are +144. The point total is set at 47.5, with the oddsmakers thinking this will be a higher-scoring game than Miami’s previous showings.
