After trading down from 28 to 32, the Bills chose to exit Round 1 without making a pick

Holding the final draft pick in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft after a trade down with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Buffalo Bills again chose to trade away their selection.

This time, with the clock approaching midnight, it was the Carolina Panther who Buffalo found as a willing trade partner. With Buffalo’s once new, and now-former pick at 32, the Panthers selected wide receiver Xavier Legette.

Two trades back, and in both cases Bills Mafia watched another team select a wide receiver — both who are named Xavier.

So it’s likely Buffalo’s decision makers didn’t have either Xavier Worthy or Xavier Legette in mind with their first-round pick. Each team’s big board is unique.

The results of their decision to trade out of Round 1, and most significantly gaining pick 33 (the first selection in Round 2) are as follows:

This time, One Bills Drive won the trade per the Rich Hill trade value chart:

  • Bills get: 33 (180 pts), 141 (14 pts) = 194 pts
  • Panthers get: 32 (184 pts), 200 (5 pts) = 189 pts

So, after all that, Buffalo Bills fans must now wait until 7 p.m. EDT Friday to find out what the team’s front office does next. Will they finally draft someone at pick 33, or is the move to once again trade back?
