Browns vs. Saints: Cleveland’s x-factor on offense

Elijah Moore could be an integral part of the Browns’ offense on Sunday

The Cleveland Browns are coming out of the bye week refreshed and looking to get their third win of the season this weekend against an underwhelming Saints team.

New Orleans has just fired its head coach, traded away one of its top defensive players, and continues to have the worst overall defense in the league. If the Browns’ offense can get off to a fast and efficient start like they did against Baltimore in week 8 then the Cleveland faithful might be in for a great weekend.

When it comes to Jameis Winston and the Browns’ passing game, the Saints might try to sell out and limit downfield throws to Cedric Tillman and Jerry Jeudy in an attempt to funnel everything “underneath”.

It’s worth noting that despite yielding a bottom-3 pass defense in the league, New Orleans has been surprisingly good at defending tight ends so it’s fair to say that David Njoku might have a tough time finding open areas of the field.

If the Saints can take away some of what Cleveland wants to do downfield, then it’s possible that Elijah Moore could see quite a bit of short to intermediate-level targets. He might be the player that Jameis Winston relies on to help keep the chains moving on 3rd downs this weekend.

He’ll most likely be matched up against CB Ugo Amadi, who’s more quick-than-fast so it could be difficult for him to keep up with Moore outside of the “bump box”.

Moore undoubtedly has the ability to handle a larger workload from the slot, and he’ll most likely experience it this weekend if the Browns’ offense wants to sustain drives.
