The performance wasn’t good enough, as the Browns lost their first AFC North game
Another, likely, season-ending injury leaves the organization searching for answers on a day that was supposed to restore the Cleveland Browns. Nick Chubb made a triumphant return to football by starting and scoring a touchdown in the 21-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The most significant news from the game is the Achilles injury that Deshaun Watson suffered, which seemingly will end his season and could impact the Browns salary cap next year. It occurred on a designed run late in the second quarter when Watson planted his right foot.
The Bengals capitalized by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Cleveland defense held the Bengals in check for the first half and allowed the offense a chance to tie the game after Chubb’s touchdown run. Dustin Hopkins would miss the extra point after missing an earlier field goal attempt.
The entire team struggled during the second half as Dorian Thompson-Robinson was inaccurate and threw two interceptions and the defense struggled to tackle while giving up big plays in the pass game.
Jameis Winston would enter the game after DTR left the game with a finger injury. Winston would lead the Browns to a touchdown on the final drive on an unbelievable catch made by David Njoku in the back of the end zone.
The debate will turn to who should be the starting quarterback moving forward to finish this lost season. Now, let’s give out some grades for the performance on the field in Week 7’s Battle of Ohio
Offense: D+
