Nick Chubb, Deshaun Watson, Ja’Marr Chase among keys for Browns
I understand the negativity is hovering over the fanbase right now but tighten up, there is a football game on Sunday that will be played. The Cleveland Browns will play their next three games at home with the first game being against AFC North rival, the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kickoff is at 1:00 PM EST. After spending time on FOX, Cleveland returns to CBS. Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta and Aditi Kinkhabwala will be on the call.
Here are the three things to watch for in this Battle of Ohio:
Cornerbacks Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, and Martin Emerson are one of the top 10 cornerback trios in the NFL (even though Newsome and Emerson have had their struggles this year). Wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are among the best wide receiver duos in the league.
However, one player who has quietly emerged and is a part of the newly formed trio is Andrei Iosivias. When the Bengals let Tyler Boyd walk in free agency, many wondered who would replace him in the slot. Iosivias is that replacement and he has done an admirable job.
Cleveland’s secondary has had their fair share of struggles this season but going against a division rival might help get them back on track.
We already know the explosive capabilities Chase and Higgins possess, but what the Browns have had issues with lately is limiting the explosive plays in the passing game. Cleveland held those two in check in the last meeting but this time will be different,
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen running back Nick Chubb on the field. Chubb has always been a likable player, his work ethic and his overall embodiment of what Cleveland represents is something everyone enjoys. Chubb’s letter that was published by the Players Tribune was well-spoken and thoughtful. Cleveland has had their share of dark days recently but Chubb is a light that the city and team need, their Batman!
Now, let’s talk about another player. It’s no secret that quarterback Deshaun Watson has been atrocious this season and his play has essentially derailed the team’s Super Bowl aspirations. Considering that this will be the third home game he has played, you can expect that the home fanbase will be hostile toward him considering how poorly he has played.
How will Watson look when the fans relentlessly boo him? Will he let it get to him or will he attempt to overcome it? Fans are frustrated that his play is dragging the team down and they aren’t afraid to hide it. He has to play better (I said this multiple times). If he continues his poor play, it wouldn’t surprise...
