Browns roster: Long list of players in the final year of their contract in Cleveland

Amari Cooper is the big name but a lot of players getting a lot of snaps this year

It really is sad for all of us Cleveland Browns fans that Sunday we compared the 2024 NFL season to the winless one in 2017. With 500 votes, the poll in that article had 78% saying the start to this season was the worst of the two.

Whether we accept it or not, the season is over for the Browns.

While we will continue to cover the details of the team week in and week out, we have also started to pivot to the 2025 NFL draft. We have you covered with where Cleveland is slotted and a 7-round Browns Mock Draft.

With the NFL trade deadline less than a month away, we also have noted the 11 untradeable (for a variety of reasons) players on Cleveland’s roster and the six that could bring back the best return.

With WR Amari Cooper likely to hear his name among many NFL trade rumors, it is important to note that his contract expiring at the end of the season limits what the Browns could get back in a trade. It is also one of the reasons Browns GM Andrew Berry might be willing to deal away the team’s top receiver.

Cleveland has a number of players who are set for NFL free agency at the end of this season. Not all of them will be on the trade block but it is important to note with the trade deadline around the corner:

  • WR Amari Cooper
  • OT Jedrick Wills
  • RB Nick Chubb
  • DL Quinton Jefferson
  • QB Jameis Winston
  • OL Nick Harris
  • WR Elijah Moore
  • TE Jordan Akins
  • DL Maurice Hurst
  • LB Devin Bush
  • RB Nyheim Hines
  • S Rodney McLeod - Plans to retire
  • OL Michael Dunn
  • OL Germain Ifedi
  • CB Mike Ford
  • OT Hakeem Adeniji
  • WR/KR James Proche
  • RB D’Onta Foreman
  • OL James Hudson
  • DL Sam Kamara
  • LB Tony Fields
  • TE Blake Whiteheart
  • S D’Anthony Bell
  • LB Winston Reid

Given the nature of NFL contracts, most players could be released as well but the impact on the Browns salary cap has to be taken into account.

Besides Chubb, who on the above list do you hope will be in Cleveland in 2025 and, perhaps, beyond?
