Browns’ offensive snap counts, stats, and notes: Week 6 - Watson’s demise continues

And now, Cleveland has shipped Amari Cooper away.

Below, we analyze the snap counts and stats on offense for the Cleveland Browns’ Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • QB: We all continue to be done with Deshaun Watson, but Kevin Stefanski has to still be a good soldier and start him hopelessly. It’s a thing where, in terms of stats, he’s not ripping interceptions left and right, but he’s just so slow with his movements and reads that the offense can’t even score one touchdown now. I truly believe the team is so turned off by him that their body language and ability to get motivated are dampened big time, which plays a huge role in these games.
  • RB: This was another game where the running game should have had a chance to succeed. More than other weeks, they actually did have some traction here. Unfortunately for Jerome Ford, he had to exit with an injury early, finishing with just 2 carries for 14 yards. Pierre Strong looked good and decisive with his runs, carrying the ball 8 times for 43 yards and also gaining 35 yards on 2 catches. One or both of the backs (D’Onta Foreman) also did a solid job putting their body on the line for some big blitz pickups. Strong was the Browns’ second-highest graded player on offense this week, grading out to a 70.0.
  • WR: I didn’t get a chance to post this snap count article before Tuesday, and the Browns just traded Amari Cooper away. I am shaking my head at what Watson’s poor play has done to this offense. With Watson in the game, receivers just don’t have a chance to succeed. You have Elijah Moore and Cedric Tillman spinning their wheels all game, to combine for 1 catch for 3 yards. How is that motivating, knowing the quarterback never looks your way or can’t get it there?
  • TE: You have to love how David Njoku makes a big fourth down catch and his fired up, and then is open on the next play and wants the ball, but Watson just goes somewhere else with the ball. Njoku was the Browns’ top-graded player on offense, grading out to a 79.0. After a nice game the previous week, Jordan Akins only played 5 snaps this week.
  • OL: It was nice to see Jedrick Wills return at right tackle and play the whole game. I was looking forward to Michael Dunn at right guard, but unfortunately, Nick Harris still can’t catch a break and suffered a season-ending injury. Dunn did a fair job in moving over to center.
