Myles Garrett rumors never made sense but the Browns might have other defenders available

As the Cleveland Browns prepare to take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, most are paying attention to the team in advance of the NFL trade deadline for other reasons. With just over a week to go, the Browns rumors have flowed primarily around DEs Myles Garrett and Za’Darius Smith.

While Smith has at least three teams interested in trading for his services, the entire league would love to acquire Garrett. While we’ve bandied about what it might take to trade for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett is highly unlikely to be moved.

Saturday night, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reviewed a number of big names in pseudo-rumors, including Garrett’s, as we move toward the NFL trade deadline on November 5th. Basically, none are available:

The Browns do not plan to trade superstar end Myles Garrett, despite teams calling after they traded Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills, sources say. The Las Vegas Raiders also do not plan to trade Maxx Crosby after they dealt Davante Adams, sources say.

Could the Rams have traded Cooper Kupp if they did not win two in a row to improve to 3-4 and Sean McVay shut down talks by saying he expects Kupp to stay? We’ll never know.

Rapoport did note Smith was available and is one of the top players being rumored in trades. Two other Browns defenders were also noted:

If Cleveland, currently 1-6, continues to struggle, he becomes more of an option. Several teams have inquired about the veteran. Others on Cleveland’s roster who could come up in trade talks include defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo and cornerback Greg Newsome.

Of note, all three players have another year left on their contracts which could be more enticing for acquiring teams and lead to a better return for Cleveland.

Between Smith, Newsome and Okoronkwo, how many do you think get traded before the NFL trade deadline? What kind of trade return do you think the Browns get for any of them? Share your thoughts in the comment section below with fellow fans
