LS Charley Hughlett’s impressive streak comes to an end, Hurst and Diabate to return

The Cleveland Browns have made a slew of roster moves today headlining with LS Charley Hughlett being placed on IR, which ends his streak of 152 straight games played. He’s one of only seven active players who have played in every game since the 2015 season.

  • LB Mohamoud Diabate and DT Maurice Hurst II have been designated for return to practice, a breath of fresh air for the struggling defense.

  • Bay Village native LS Rex Sunahara and TE Geoff Swaim have been elevated to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • S Trey Dean and DE Marcus Haynes have also been signed to the practice squad in place of the promoted duo of Sunahara and Swaim.

Trey Dean is a second-year safety who was originally signed by the New York Jets as a UDFA in 2023 but was waived and re-signed to the practice squad. He spent the entire year there until his PS contract had expired following the regular season.

He was then signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on January 17th, 2024 where he won a Super Bowl.

Marcus Haynes is back in Cleveland after a short stint in August following an injury to Za’Darius Smith in training camp. He’s spent time with 5 different teams between the UFL and NFL over the past 18 months, most recently with the Pittsburgh Steelers in September.

Marcus’ younger brother OG Christian Haynes, was a 3rd round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
