Jaelon Darden heading to the 53-man roster while Tony Brown II heads to IR

The never-ending changes to the Cleveland Browns roster continue on Tuesday after the big upset win in Week 8. Heading into Week 9, the Browns have some serious injury concerns with LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah being hospitalized and CB Denzel Ward in concussion protocol.

Cleveland also has slim playoff hopes that could be improved by a victory this week against the Los Angeles Chargers. Seeing development from WR Cedric Tillman the last two weeks and a couple of young defenders gives a boost to the team’s chances.

Unfortunatly, injuries continue in other areas of the team. Tuesday the Browns roster had four changes made with CB Tony Brown II going on injured reserve due to a foot issue. Brown had played in six games for the team this year with all 136 snaps coming on special teams.

Brown’s injury made room for WR/PR Jaelon Darden to be signed to the active 53-man roster. Darden had met his maximum elevations off the practice squad for the season. In four games in 2024, Darden has returned 15 punts and four kicks this season.

Darden has caught the only pass thrown his way on offense as well this year.

Cleveland also made a switch on the practice squad with CB Kahlef Hailassie being added, after being released last week, and RB Gary Brightwell being released again.
