Browns football: Comparing horrible experiences for Cleveland fans

Browns 2024 struggles vs winless 2017 season is a battle of pathetic

Being a Cleveland Browns fan is a tough experience. Since the team was stolen away by Art Modell and the City of Baltimore, Browns football has mostly been unwatchable. Since “The Return” in 1999, Cleveland fans have seen just four winning seasons, three playoff seasons and one playoff victory,

The hope was that 2024 was the year that Browns history would continue to turn after a playoff appearance in 2023. Instead, Cleveland leaves Week 5 with a 1-4 record and almost no chance of making the playoffs this year.

Instead, the offense has been putrid and the defense has more than regressed to the mean after being the best in the NFL last year.

For Browns fans, the winless experience in 2017 under HC Hue Jackson had been the worst experience over the last 2 and a half decades. With the best fanbase in the NFL, Cleveland fans have experienced so very bad football which makes this question even sadder:

What is worse: the 2024 season so far or going winless in 2017?

With a lot of long-time fans as a part of DBN’s community, is this worse than “The Drive,” “The Fumble,” “Red Right 88,” etc?
