Browns have issues everywhere
The Cleveland Browns and their fans never imagined that after four games their record would be 1-3-0. And nobody would have surmised that this offense would be as bad as it has been.
Their opponent this week is going in the opposite direction with a 3-1-0 record and leading the NFL Eastern Division while the Browns and Cincinnati Bengals are fighting it out for the cellar of the AFC North Division.
At the final gun, the Commanders dominated the Browns to the tune of 34-13.
So who played well for the Browns? Who didn’t?
P Corey Bojorquez - When your punter is the offensive MVP, you know the team is in trouble. But that is what is happening with this year’s Browns. Two punts landed on the two-yard line as once again, Bojo had a ton of kicks. This week it was seven.
Four landed inside the 20 with a long of 65-yards and a 51.6 yards per punt average. Last year Bojo had a 49.4 average so he has improved. A valuable weapon for a stagnant offense. Nice job.
K Dustin Hopkins - When your kicker is your co-offensive MVP, you know the team is in trouble. All the Browns have to do is get close to their opponent’s 40 and it becomes an instant three points for Hopkins. He began with a 51-yarder followed by a 31-yard field goal in the second half. His kickoffs are nicely placed as well which is an important aspect for a kicker with this year’s XFL kickoff play. With his three kickoffs he placed one on the two-yard line while the others were a minus-6 in the end zone with just one taken out for a return. He has missed just one field goal attempt this year.
LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah - Wonderful game and all over the place. Saved six points with his interception inside the five-yard-line in the first quarter when the score was close. He did miss the tackle on Washington QB Jayden Daniels in the second quarter on a fourth-and-three to which the talented quarterback ran it all the way to Cleveland’s three-yard-line. JOK got a thunder hit on WR Terry McLaurin on the first play of the third quarter which caused a fumble and recovered by the Browns at Washington’s 30. On a second-and-five play, JOK beat his man C Tyler Biadasz and sacked Daniels. Finished with five total tackles, one sack, one QB hit, one batted pass, and two tackles for loss. A banner game.
LB Devin Bush - Thrown into the starting lineup, Bush quietly had an excellent game. The second-and-11 stop on the no-huddle pass in the second quarter was a touchdown if Bush misses RB Brian Robinson. On the first-and-goal right before the half it was Bush who filled the gap and stonewalled Robinson. Early in the third quarter Daniels had scrambled for 23 yards as Bush came from the other side of the field to finally...
