Here is how the Broncos can pull off the upset against the Baltimore Ravens
For the first time since 2022 the Denver Broncos are taking on the Baltimore Ravens and they’ll be looking to break a three-game losing streak against them. It’s time to snap the streak and pull off a massive upset that will change the entire playoff picture in the AFC.
If the Broncos want to stand a chance against this powerful Ravens offense then they’ll have to keep them off of the field for as long as possible. They need to be able to run the ball effectively to burn clock and wear out a solid defense. And this will be no easy task considering the Ravens are giving up the least amount of rushing yards per game at just 69.9 yards per game.
The offensive line will have to be at their best, Javonte Williams has to look like he did the last time he faced off against the Ravens, and Jaleel McLaughlin has to make people miss in space.
One thing that might be able to give them the edge though is Bo Nix. The Ravens haven’t gone against a team that boasts a mobile quarterback like the Broncos do. The read-option has the chance to come through huge for Denver.
On the other side of the coin, the Broncos will have to figure out how to slow down Derick Henry, who is averaging 6.5 yards per carry and nearly 120 yards per game. Now, the Broncos do have a solid front seven and have been hard to run against, but they have not faced off against as tough of an opponent as the Ravens.
Vance Joseph will have his hands full, but I do have confidence in him to figure something out. At least something that can slow Baltimore down.
While the Ravens may be the best rushing defense, they are also the worst passing defense, giving up almost 300 yards per game. This is great news for a rookie quarterback that is quickly transforming into a dependable playmaker and field general.
Bo Nix looked great against the Panthers. His footwork took a big step forward, he looked confident, and he was consistently putting the ball in the right spot and staying out of danger.
If he can keep this up, and if his wide receivers can come down with clutch catches and not fumble, then the Broncos might be able to light up this defense.
