Broncos at Ravens preview: Denver looks to steal road game as heavy underdog
Mile High Report Mile High Report

The Broncos face a big challenge on the road in Baltimore this Sunday. Here’s what Denver must do to get the win.

Just about everyone will say that Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos have no shot this Sunday.

There’s no question the Broncos (5-3) face a massive challenge in the Baltimore Ravens (5-3) in Baltimore. To make matters more difficult, the Ravens just lost to the Cleveland Browns. So Lamar Jackson and Co. will be even more motivated this Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, the Broncos are heavy underdogs at +9.5 and +385 on the moneyline.

Needless to say, a win this weekend would be huge for Denver.

Here are the MHR staff’s keys to Sunday’s game.

Win the line of scrimmage on offense

The offensive line needs to give Nix time to throw the ball. The one area where the Ravens are beatable on defense is through the air, so the line needs to keep the pass rushers off Nix. Additionally, Nix needs to have a game similar to the one he just had against the Carolina Panthers, where he was accurate, made some great throws, and looked really good. A similar performance from Nix and the offensive line will put the Broncos in a great spot to have a puncher’s chance on Sunday. — Ian St. Clair

Score touchdowns

Against a team like the Ravens, you’ve gotta score touchdowns over field goals. They have the number one offense in the league and will get points. Bo Nix and that offense will need to play lights out next week. — Tim Lynch

Catch the effing ball ... and don’t drop it

Nix has steadily been improving over the last eight weeks. His receivers need to be doing the same. Dropped passes and fumbles won’t kill you when you play a team at the bottom of the league. They will absolutely destroy you when playing a team at the top. — Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann

Stop the run

Derrick Henry is such a difficult player to stop. He can make defenders look weak. Force Lamar Jackson to beat you with his arm. He is a part of the running attack, too. So the combination of Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson can be lethal. Make Jackson one-dimensional. He’s great as a passer too,...
