Bo Nix owns October.
Remember when we were complaining about the rookie quarterback who had an 0-2 record to start the season and we had to remind each other that it takes time to develop?
Yeah, me neither.
And neither does the rest of the NFL as the league named Broncos quarterback Bo Nix its NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for October.
For just the third time in franchise history, a Bronco has earned this honor.
Nix is also the first to win it in more than 20 years as he joins running backs Mike Anderson (September & December 2000) and Clinton Portis (October 2002) as the only Broncos to earn the league-wide bragging rights.
Although Nix’s September started a little slow with zero passing touchdowns and four interceptions, he found a groove in October.
The 12th overall pick threw for 870 yards and seven touchdowns, earning a 102.7 quarterback rating while completing 66.7 percent of his passes.
Nix also rushed for 149 yards, getting into the end zone twice – including one very Drew Brees-like QB sneak. Leading the Broncos to a 3-1 record in October, Nix added only one more interception to his stat count and led the Broncos to three out of four wins.
Although Nix seemed to be left out of most national conversations when comparing the rookie QB stats early on — as Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams stole the time — he now leads all of them in passing touchdowns (7), passing touchdown-to-interception ratio (7-to-1), passing yards (870) and rushing touchdowns (2).
In addition to league-wide milestones, Nix also set the franchise’s single-season win record of for rookie quarterbacks (5).
Proof that it takes time for the game to slow down, Nix’s best contest was the most recent one against the Pathers where he set career highs in completions (28), completion percentage (75.7), passing yards (284), passing touchdowns (3), total touchdowns (4) and passer rating (124.2).
In addition to his offensive production, Nix has been pretty good at eluding defenses too as he leads all AFC quarterbacks in sack percentage.
