The Buffalo Bills did the one thing most weren’t predicting to happen during Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Yes, they traded back. Twice — and out of the first round. For their efforts, they improved their draft stock by gaining a pick in Round 3. The Bills are set to get things started tonight with pick 33, but it’s anyone’s guess whether they stay put or once again find reason and the ability to trade back even further.

To this point, it would that general manager Brandon Beane’s belief is that there wasn’t a first-round prospect on their draft board. As such, he acted according to their plan. While many Bills fans were irate with the results that had much to do with who drafted in their place at 28 and the position, they did receive good value. The only opportunity they lost was drafting wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Xavier Legette.

The results of their two trades:

Trade 1
(points in parenthesis = Rich Hill trade value chart)

  • Bills received: 32 (184 pts), 95 (40 pts), 221 (2pts) = 226
  • Chiefs received: 28 (209 pts), 133 (18 pts), 248 (1 pt) = 227
A near-even trade with the results of this trade

Trade 2
(points in parenthesis = Rich Hill trade value chart)

  • Bills received: 33 (180 pts), 141 (14 pts) = 194 pts
  • Panthers received: 32 (184 pts), 200 (5 pts) = 189 pts
Bills with a net gain as a result of this trade

So after having some time to think about what happened last night, are you okay with the Buffalo Bills’ approach in Round 1?
