Buffalo will officially be without Keon Coleman (and possibly Amari Cooper and/or Curtis Samuel).
The Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts have both ruled out a wide receiver ahead of Sunday’s Week 10 clash. However, for the Bills at least, the injury designations heading into the weekend leave so many questions unanswered.
The Bills will be playing without rookie Keon Coleman. The wide receiver was injured at the end of Buffalo’s Week 9 win when Miami Dolphins’ safety Jordan Poyer collided with him. Despite being seen on the sidelines of the Bills’ practice field, and despite not being seen with any brace, bandage, or cast, Coleman was listed as a non-participant in all of Buffalo’s Week 10 practices.
On Friday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that Coleman would not play on Sunday, and in an update to Wednesday’s “possibly more than this week” comment, said that he feels the wide receiver will miss multiple weeks. McDermott did, however, say that he doesn’t think the Bills will be placing Coleman on Injured Reserve (IR).
While playing without Coleman, who is averaging 18.9 yards per catch and had his first 100-yard game in Week 7, isn’t ideal, the situation gets complicated when considering that Amari Cooper is listed as questionable for the second straight weekend. Cooper arrived in Buffalo, via trade with the Cleveland Browns, just days before the Bills’ Week 7 game. He learned just enough of the offensive playbook to be a factor to the tune of four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown as the Bills beat the Tennessee Titans. However, in Week 8, Cooper slipped on wet turf in Seattle and fell to the ground. He was limited for the remainder of the game and every practice for the past two weeks. This week, Cooper was seen in a small cast while talking to reporters after a practice.
As if two injured receivers weren’t enough, Curtis Samuel continues to deal with a pectoral injury that he suffered in Week 7. Samuel sat out Week 8, played in Week 9 as it was Cooper who missed the game, and now is listed as questionable once again.
Along with Cooper and Samuel, the Bills have listed fullback Reggie Gilliam, who missed last weekend’s game with a hip injury, and linebacker Baylon Spector as questionable as well. Spector’s injury is new as of Friday, indicating it may have happened during practice making him limited for the day.
As for the Bills’ opponents on Sunday, they too will be playing without one of their starting wide receivers.
Michael Pittman Jr. has been dealing with a back injury for several weeks, but after managing to catch just one pass in each of the last two weeks, the Colts have decided it’s time to shut the fifth-year veteran down for a while. Pittman started dealing back soreness in October and a trip to IR was considered. However, Pittman said that he opted to stay on the active roster in hopes of...
