The offense may be struggling, but we’re three games into a new scheme with several new faces, and Caleb Wiliams just broke a franchise record.
Through three games, are Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears playing as you expected them to be at this point in the season?
I’m a little disappointed with the (1-2) record, especially after how close the two losses were. Yesterday’s loss was extra tough because the Indianapolis Colts are less talented than the Bears. The Colts were the better-coached team, and they benefitted from a few breaks, but from a player-to-player standpoint, the Bears had the advantage.
They clearly had the edge in the most important position in all team sports: quarterback.
It’s not often I’ve been able to say that as a Bears fan, but I have a feeling I’ll be able to trot that sentence out more often than not in the future.
Williams isn’t there yet, obviously, but he’s three games into his career.
Did anyone think Caleb would break the team’s rookie record for passing yards in a game in his third start while putting up the 11th most yards in a game in franchise history?
He did that while the offense is still struggling and searching for its identity. Once they all get more familiar with each other and settle in, things will look better all around.
How many times have we seen Caleb throw a ball that he and his receivers weren’t on the same page with? That type of stuff comes with experience and an understanding of how each player sees the field.
Remember last week when more than three-quarters of our fan base understood patience?
That’s good to remember as we watch Caleb and the offense perform these next few weeks.
