The Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers both lost in the AFC standings.

The Buffalo Bills didn’t play in Week 12 but they picked up two wins in the AFC Playoff Picture (and almost picked up a third). The other three division leaders were locked into close games, with two of them falling.

The Kansas City Chiefs moved to 10-1, one game ahead of Buffalo, but the Carolina Panthers gave KC everything they could handle. The Chiefs kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired.

On Thursday night, the third-place Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Cleveland Browns. They will stay in third place, but it gives the Bills a one-game lead for second place in the conference. The fourth-place Houston Texans also lost, to fall to 7-5.

The next step for Buffalo is clinching the AFC East, which could happen in Week 13 with a win and a Miami Dolphins loss. The New England Patriots were eliminated from AFC East contention with their loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
