A couple of prospect matchups plus a massive Big 10 showdown

There are only two top 25 matchups to notate in Week 10 of the college football season. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be any chaos ensuing as we head down the home stretch with conference play still in full swing.

The day starts with No. 4 Ohio State traveling to No. 3 Penn State for a key Big Ten battle that could go a long way to dictate who heads to the Big Ten Championship game next month. Ohio State has already dropped a conference game while the Nittany Lions remain undefeated. A loss for the Buckeyes would be a nail in the coffin, and it would be an uphill climb for the home team in this game with a loss as they’d lose control of their own destiny to make it.

Another intriguing ACC Top 25 matchup is on deck with No. 18 Pitt traveling to Dallas to take on No. 20 SMU. Both teams are undefeated in conference play thus far so something will certainly have to give in this one. Pitt went from 3-9 a year ago to having an outside chance for a perfect record regular season in 2024. SMU is enjoying a fantastic first year in the ACC after making the move from the AAC this year. It’s not often you see a team take a step up in conference affiliate and enjoy the kind of success SMU has had this year. It’s a key opportunity for the Mustangs to stay in the fight for an ACC title berth while Pitt can continue to build their own destiny with a win.

With the two primary games of the week highlighted, let’s talk about a few prospect matchups to know for week 10 and dive further into the Ohio State/Penn State game. Let us know in the comments who and what you’re watching this weekend.

Tantalizing Talent — Penn State RB Nick Singleton vs. Ohio State Defense

One of the shortcomings of the Penn State team is their lack of skill talent on the offensive side of the ball. Particularly, wide receiver is a position lacking in some ability to create for the offense and make a difference. The Nittany Lions have a strong duo of running backs with running back Nick Singleton being the most talented of them. Singleton is a former five-star prospect in the 2022 class. He’s got three-down potential in the NFL with plenty of pass catching ability and a sturdy frame to hold up in pass protection when need be.

He’s going to test ridiculously well in pre-draft testing cycle and his ability will likely track him into the top 100 when all is said and done.

Ohio State’s defense doesn’t lack talent in the front seven and generally down the spine of the defense with players like defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, linebacker Sonny Styles, safety Lathan Ransom, and others. The entirety of the defense as a...
