Browns season is all but over meaning it is NFL draft talk time
For Cleveland Browns fans, hope of an AFC Championship-level team in 2024 has all but vanished. While anything can happen, the Browns making the playoffs this season is a very long shot at this point. For Cleveland fans, the feel of this season seems worse than the winless one in 2017.
So far, our poll is showing a strong indicator that that is true for most Browns fans.
With all that in mind, we will start to turn our attention to the NFL draft while still covering the 12 games left in the 2024 regular season. Cleveland currently has the fourth overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft.
Last week’s Browns Mock Draft revamped the offensive line a great deal. This week, we used Mock Draft Database’s simulator and brought in CB/WR Travis Hunter and man-of-the-hour QB Diego Pavia who led Vanderbilt’s upset over Alabama this weekend.
On to our full mock draft with quick explainers for each pick:
CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado
Hunter would be a great corner or receiver but he’s both and, until he can’t be, he should be both in the NFL. Much like Shohei Ohtani in baseball, it is okay to let an outlier try something that few have done before.
Cleveland needs help everywhere but have some depth at corner which will help Hunter slowly adjust to the longer NFL schedule and play less snaps early.
DL Tyliek Williams, Ohio State
More than just a run-stopper, Williams is a force in the middle of the Buckeyes defense line and would reunite with Michael Hall Jr. with the Browns.
OT Earnest Greene, Georgia
Cleveland needs at least one, maybe two, starting tackles and getting Greene here in the third round is a nice catch. A leader on the team, Greene has played in a lot of important games.
TE Tyler Warren, Penn State
There is very little behind David Njoku in the tight end room so we grab a tight end here.
S Lathan Ransom, Ohio State
Depth, special teams help and a leader from a winning program. We will take all of those for the Browns right now.
DE RJ Oben, Notre Dame
At this point, Cleveland is looking for all the depth they can and another edge rusher could be helpful.
OL Bryce Foster, Texas A&M
Sadly, the 2024 NFL season might be the last for Joel Bitonio in a Browns uniform. Even if not, he is not long for the league at this point.
WR Matthew Golden, Texas
Early in the season, Golden has 18 receptions for 223 yards and three touchdowns for the Longhorns. Cleveland is set to lose multiple receivers in free agency this season so adding another here makes sense.
RB Phil Mafah, Clemson
A few new running backs will be necessary for the Browns next season.
