Thanks to the nflFastR project, Pro Football Focus and NFL NextGen Stats for the timely sources of data.
For those of you new to this, I will publish key QB stats each week judging how well the Colts’ QB performed. Yes, O-Line, receivers, and play-calling impact these numbers but they are primarily QB measures. I will probably modify the charts throughout the season. Commentary will be brief but feel free to let me know in the comments that stats aren’t everything. (click charts for larger view)
Take away the interception, and this looked like a typical...

The Indianapolis Colts are signing quarterback Brett Rypien to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The move comes after Indianapolis placed third-year quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. on injured reserve Monday. According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, Richardson “was hospitalized after a pole that he had affixed an elastic stretch band to snapped during his pregame routine, resulting in the pole forcefully impacting his face.”
Rypien, 29, was most recently released by the Cincinnati Bengals following the trade for veteran quarterback, Joe Flacco. The Colts initially worked out four different quarterbacks on Tuesday, including Jeff Driskel, Jaren Hall, Tanner Mordecai...

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Indianapolis Colts worked out the following players on Tuesday: wide receiver Colton Dowell, quarterback Jeff Driskel, quarterback Jaren Hall, wide receiver Mecole Hardman, wide receiver Jordan Kerley, quarterback Tanner Mordecai, and quarterback Kyle Trask.
Of course, the biggest names on this list for me are Mecole Hardman, who Colts fans may remember most from his prior time with the Kansas City Chiefs as a deep threat. The former 2019 2nd round pick of Kansas City has 178 receptions for 2,302 total receiving yards and 16 touchdown receptions during 80 career games (28 starts).

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that the team has signed offensive tackle Bayron Matos to the team’s practice squad and waived fellow offensive tackle Marcellus Johnson in a corresponding taxi squad move.
The Colts had worked out Matos among four players on Monday. He reportedly also recently worked out for both the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 6’7”, 334 pound Matos was the International Pathway Program Player from the Dominican Republic (where he was also a college basketball player) and was with the Miami Dolphins practice squad last season—having been waived by the Dolphins as part...

With the Colts freeing up 2025 cap space via restructuring nickel Cornerback Kenny Moore II’s contract and standing at a 5-1 record, they seem poised to make a move before the NFL trade deadline. Who could the Colts pursue as Ballard tries to add to a roster that looks poised to enter the playoffs for the first time since 2020?
Yes, yes I know dear reader. We’ve been down this road before. You don’t want to get your hopes up.
And yet, the siren’s call beacons. Trey Hendrickson is still on an expiring contract....

The Indianapolis Colts made a financial move the other day, restructuring Kenny Moore’s contract to free up $3.8 million in cap room. According to OTC, the Colts are now projected to have about $7.9 million in available salary cap space. The timing is interesting, with Indianapolis sitting at 5–1 and leading the AFC. They should absolutely be buyers at the trade deadline — the question is, for who?
Before evaluating specific players, it’s best to identify the biggest needs. The Colts’ top three are:
We can likely rule out a starting linebacker, since...

We knew that it was not going to be smooth sailing all season, and that there were going to be some hiccups here and there from new franchise quarterback Danny Dimes, but how he bounced back from those is what impressed me. Mistakes happen, it is how you bounce back from them that makes the difference. After throwing a bad interception, and being down a score a big part of the game, Daniel Jones was still cool & collected, did not panic, and managed to get the win, improving to 5-1 as the Colts’...

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Indianapolis Colts worked out four players on Monday including offensive tackle Bayron Matos, safety Israel Mukuamu, cornerback Levi Wallace, and offensive tackle Trey Wedig:
The 30-year-old Levi Wallace is the most experienced player on this list, having made 72 career starts (appearing in 96 career games). He appeared in 13 games (2 starts) for the Denver Broncos last year, recording 28 tackles (20 solo) and 2 passes defensed. He earned a +66.9 overall grade via PFF during 2024—including a +64.3 coverage grade.
Meanwhile, Wedig is a 6,7”, 310 pound offensive tackle who made 13...

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that the team has placed injured backup quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. (eye) on injured reserve, while claiming safety Reuben Lowery off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens in a corresponding 53-man roster move.
Richardson Sr. reportedly fractured his orbital bone while doing band work during pre-game warm ups this past Sunday in what’s assuredly a freak accident of sorts—as the equipment malfunctioned.
He’ll miss at least four games before being eligible to be activated again this regular season. The 3rd-year pro has appeared in 2 games, completing 1 of 2 throws (actually to himself) for...

5-1. Good teams beat down bad teams, but another thing good teams manage to do is win when they are not at their best, and the Colts managed to do just that against the Cardinals. The game was not pretty, perhaps the worst game I have seen from the team this season, but they managed to score at the right time, and (thanks in big part to a missed DPI call on Trey McBride late in the game) get the stop when it mattered the most.

Indianapolis, IN — The Indianapolis Colts’ pass rush through five weeks had been touted as a struggling unit that lacked consistency. This unit has been getting the job done, but a below-average pressure percentage (T-21st) and league-worst (T-31st) get-off rate has raised questions as to whether or not this group has enough juice to last for the entire season. Against the Arizona Cardinals, however, Indy’s pass rush put on its strongest showing yet.
Lou Anarumo’s Colts defense attacked the veteran spot-starting QB Jacoby Brissett early and often, resulting in virtually the only time its pass defense was able to stop...

The Indianapolis Colts have another major opportunity to cement their legitimacy as they head out on the road for their second test of the season. Ironically enough, it will be in the exact same building in which they lost in crushing fashion to the Los Angeles Rams. The L.A. part stays the same, but Chargers are swapping in for an important AFC contest. FanDuel Sportsbook is seeing a tight one with the Colts as 1.5-point underdogs.
The money line starts at -104, and the over/under is 48.5.
The Colts gutted out a win over the Cardinals as the offense carried...
