For those of you new to this, I will publish key QB stats each week judging how well the Colts’ QB performed. Yes, O-Line, receivers, and play-calling impact these numbers but they are primarily QB measures. I will probably modify the charts throughout the season. The Indianapolis Colts are signing quarterback Brett Rypien to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The move comes after Indianapolis placed third-year quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. on injured reserve Monday. According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, Richardson “was hospitalized after a pole that he had affixed an elastic stretch band to snapped during his pregame routine, resulting in the pole forcefully impacting his face.”

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Indianapolis Colts worked out the following players on Tuesday: wide receiver Colton Dowell, quarterback Jeff Driskel, quarterback Jaren Hall, wide receiver Mecole Hardman, wide receiver Jordan Kerley, quarterback Tanner Mordecai, and quarterback Kyle Trask.

Of course, the biggest names on this list for me are Mecole Hardman, who Colts fans may remember most from his prior time with the Kansas City Chiefs as a deep threat. The former 2019 2nd round pick of Kansas City has 178 receptions for 2,302 total receiving yards and 16 touchdown receptions during 80 career games (28 starts).

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that the team has signed offensive tackle Bayron Matos to the team’s practice squad and waived fellow offensive tackle Marcellus Johnson in a corresponding taxi squad move.

The 30-year-old Levi Wallace is the most experienced player on this list, having made 72 career starts (appearing in 96 career games). He appeared in 13 games (2 starts) for the Denver Broncos last year, recording 28 tackles (20 solo) and 2 passes defensed. He earned a +66.9 overall grade via PFF during 2024—including a +64.3 coverage grade.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that the team has placed injured backup quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. (eye) on injured reserve, while claiming safety Reuben Lowery off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens in a corresponding 53-man roster move.

5-1. Good teams beat down bad teams, but another thing good teams manage to do is win when they are not at their best, and the Colts managed to do just that against the Cardinals. The game was not pretty, perhaps the worst game I have seen from the team this season, but they managed to score at the right time, and (thanks in big part to a missed DPI call on Trey McBride late in the game) get the stop when it mattered the most.

Indianapolis, IN — The Indianapolis Colts’ pass rush through five weeks had been touted as a struggling unit that lacked consistency. This unit has been getting the job done, but a below-average pressure percentage (T-21st) and league-worst (T-31st) get-off rate has raised questions as to whether or not this group has enough juice to last for the entire season.
