In Today’s Links: recaps, recallings, retellings, and musings on our Seattle Seahawks’ big win last night. Lots to talk about. Didn’t look pretty, to be frank. Let’s break it down. Easier I’d say than dissecting the M’s game. Where are you at with the ‘Hawks after yesterday’s win? You worried about the O and/or Sam Darnold? Happy to win at home? We’ve got time to look back over the next week or so, as our squad has a bye next weekend. We’ll have time to chat. Thanks for being here with us at Field Gulls. We appreciate you.

Words cannot really do justice to that Monday Night Football madness.
The Seattle Seahawks suffocated the Houston Texans offense all game, and yet ended up with four turnovers committed and needlessly let Houston have a slim hope of a comeback. After racing out to a 14-0 lead, it looked like it’d be an easy night at the office for the Seahawks.
Not on the Seahawks’ watch.
Some poor execution on offense and missed opportunities for takeaways on defense led to the Texans pulling within 14-6 at the half, then 17-12 following a Sam Darnold fumble in the end zone for...

This was not the night Seattle sports fans wanted, it’s not the night Seattle sports fans deserved, but it wasn’t a lost cause for Seattle sports.
While the Seattle Mariners came agonizingly close only to fail to reach their first World Series, the Seattle Seahawks overcame their many self-inflicted wounds to defeat the Houston Texans 27-19 and close out the first portion of their season in a three-way tie for top spot in a daunting NFC West. When the worst team is the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals, who have lost all of their games in the final minutes and have a...

The NFC West could not be closer at the top. Three teams are 5-2 after Week 7 as we enter the bye week for the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angles Rams (and the Arizona Cardinals). The San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Rams all won in Week 7 and the logjam continues.
The Green Bay Packers moved to the top of the conference with their win coupled with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss on Monday night. Let’s just get to it.
Three teams at 5-2 means we get to talk about...

Unfortunately, the Seattle Mariners blew Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays and will not be going to the World Series for the first time.
Fortunately, the Seattle Seahawks are winning 14-6 at the half against the Houston Texans.
Unfortunately, they have squandered many opportunities to be up by more.
A Drake Thomas fumble return touchdown didn’t materialize after he fumbled the ball at the goal line. Seattle also stupidly threw away at least three points on a Cooper Kupp interception. The Seahawks also had a dreadful two-minute drill ending in a blocked Jason Myers field goal, then they gave...

The San Francisco 49ers beating the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football has given the Seattle Seahawks some extra pressure on Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans. Lose and they’re virtually two games back of the 49ers, win and they’re at least tied through Week 8 with a chance to get first place through a Texans win over the 49ers next week.
Of course, the sub-plot is Seattle’s home field advantage, which has been a disadvantage for several seasons. After the promise of improving upon last year’s horrendous 3-6 home mark, the thought of possibly starting 1-3 at Lumen...

Despite practicing throughout the week, it’ll be another game without Devon Witherspoon and Julian Love for the Seattle Seahawks.
The star cornerback and safety were respectively listed as questionable on Saturday, providing a glimmer of hope that they would play on Monday night against the Houston Texans. Alas, the wait will continue through the bye week, while cornerback Riq Woolen is back in the lineup. They’re joined by Derick Hall on the inactives for the second week in a row, as Hall is dealing with a hip issue.
Also for the second straight game is quarterback Jalen Milroe serving as...

A week after the first firing of an NFL head coach in the 2025 season, a legendary Seattle Seahawks receiver who has been falling out of said coach’s gameplan has been let go.
Tyler Lockett requested and has since been granted his release by the Tennessee Titans on Monday,
The Titans were the worst team in football in 2024, drafted QB Cam Ward first overall, and again look like the worst team in the league. After criticism by their own quarterback, the firing of Callahan, a 1-6 start and a lopsided loss to their former head coach (Mike Vrabel), the...

Technically, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions are the main course of this Monday Night Football doubleheader, hence Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are in Detroit and not Seattle, but I consider it the undercard to the Seattle Seahawks vs. Houston Texans, the real main event of the evening.
Anyway, it’s 5-1 vs. 4-2 and the Lions secondary is as banged up as Tampa Bay’s receiving corps. It should still be an awesome game to watch, with Baker Mayfield playing like a legitimate MVP candidate, and the Lions boasting one of the best offenses in the NFL. We might...

The Seattle Seahawks have had a banged up secondary for much of the season, so it’s no surprise that their practice squad elevations for Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans.
Cornerback Shaquill Griffin and safety Jerrick Reed II have both been called up to the active roster. It’s the second week in a row those two have gotten the nod, which means they each have one more elevation permitted before they must be signed to the active roster.
Reed was limited to special teams last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but did get garbage time snaps in the blowout...

The Seattle Seahawks (4-2) have one more game before their bye week, and it’s under the bright Lumen Field nights on Monday Night Football. Their Week 7 opponents are the Houston Texans (2-3), who are coming off their own bye week and looking for a third successive win to offset their surprising 0-3 start. A Seattle win would keep the team tied for first in the NFC West alongside the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, but the 49ers have the head-to-head tiebreaker. A loss would put the Seahawks back by a game and potentially two in the loss...

Are you ready for some very late Monday Night Football?
For the first time in team history, the Seattle Seahawks are playing a regular season home game at 7 pm PT. I guess we should also spare a thought for Houston Texans fans who have to watch their team play at 9 pm CT. Anyway, it’s time to make predictions for this last Seahawks game until November. First up, let’s review what happened last week.
Bold prediction: Seahawks have over 150 rushing yards
Bold? It was a stupid prediction.
Seahawks offense prediction: Elijah Arroyo scores his first...
