The Seattle Seahawks have had a banged up secondary for much of the season, so it’s no surprise that their practice squad elevations for Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans.
Cornerback Shaquill Griffin and safety Jerrick Reed II have both been called up to the active roster. It’s the second week in a row those two have gotten the nod, which means they each have one more elevation permitted before they must be signed to the active roster.
Reed was limited to special teams last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but did get garbage time snaps in the blowout over the New Orleans Saints. Griffin played 74 snaps in the absence of Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon in the Jags game, with Mike Macdonald saying of his performance: “Shaq did a good job.”
Devon Witherspoon is questionable with a knee injury, whereas safety Julian Love is questionable with a hamstring issue. Riq Woolen will return to the lineup after missing Week 6 with a concussion, so there are no worries there, but it’s better safe than sorry in terms of having depth available given the injuries the starters are dealing with.
Game inactives will be announced no later than 5:30 pm PT.
