A week after the first firing of an NFL head coach in the 2025 season, a legendary Seattle Seahawks receiver who has been falling out of said coach’s gameplan has been let go.

Tyler Lockett requested and has since been granted his release by the Tennessee Titans on Monday,

The Titans were the worst team in football in 2024, drafted QB Cam Ward first overall, and again look like the worst team in the league. After criticism by their own quarterback, the firing of Callahan, a 1-6 start and a lopsided loss to their former head coach (Mike Vrabel), the vibes could hardly be much worse in the volunteer state. On top of that, Tyler Lockett has only been able to contribute 10 catches for 70 yards in Callahan and Ward’s offense.

T-Lock put up 661 receptions, 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns over 10 seasons with the Seahawks prior to the 2025 season in Tennessee. Retirement may not be far off, as this is his age-33 season. The man known as “The Rocket” will forever be known as a great teammate and person, most 12’s will be rooting for his continues success (unless its elsewhere in the NFC West).

As Adam Schefter mentions, Lockett should be free to sign with a new team after 1pm PST on Wednesday, October 22nd. For those hoping for a Seattle reunion, a role as a WR3 in Las Vegas seems slightly more likely. Dallas (Lockett owns a house in Texas) and Miami also seem like possible fits.
