Golden signed a deal that will make him Green Bay’s highest-paid receiver in 2025

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Green Bay Packers have come to terms with their first-round pick of the 2025 draft: wide receiver Matthew Golden of Texas. According to Schefter, Golden signed a four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $17.58 million. The full guarantees shouldn’t have been a surprise, considering that second-round picks in the draft are now receiving fully guaranteed contracts now.

One interesting roster mechanic to track for the Green Bay Packers this offseason is what the team will ultimately do with Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma. A former U Sports athlete, Elgersma is eligible to be the team’s exempt/international player, which each NFL squad is granted one spot for each season. Essentially, teams are allowed to carry a 90-man offseason roster plus one roster exemption until cutdowns, and then they are allowed to have a 16-man practice squad with one international roster exemption during the season.

Former South Dakota State Jackrabbit receiver Jadon Janke is now in Green Bay

On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers announced the signing of wide receiver Jadon Janke (pronounced YON-kee, per Packers.com), the former college teammate of current Packers starting tight end Tucker Kraft.

Janke is a 6’2”, 212lb receiver from South Dakota State (go Jackrabbits). He was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent before the 2024 season. They released him during training camp, after which he went to the Miami Dolphins and finished up camp there before they cut him.
