It’s September, and that can only mean one thing: football is back! We had college football kick off on Saturday, August 30, but now it’s time for the big boys to play. No more training camp, no more preseason games, and no more debating who should be WR5 and CB6; the real games start now. To kick off the 2025 season, the Detroit Lions have a fun challenge, going on the road to take on the Green Bay Packers. This game already had some hype coming into it, but with the big trade the Packers made, it amplified the matchup....
On Tuesday, three Detroit Lions coaches—head coach Dan Campbell, wide receiver coach Scottie Montgomery, and offensive line coach Hank Fraley—met with the media in the team’s first real day of Week 1 preparation for the Green Bay Packers. While each session was informative, I’m not sure anything was revealed that requires a BREAKING NEWS banner.
So on days in which a lot of little tidbits are dropped, but nothing major, we’ll try to offer a more broad recap of the media sessions for ease of consuming. Here are five things worth noting from Tuesday’s press conferences.
Scottie Montgomery has all...
The Detroit Lions had their first official practice of Week 1 on Tuesday in preparation for their game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. While we won’t get an official injury report until Wednesday, we were on hand for the afternoon practice and were able to take attendance.
Among the players on the 53-man roster, the Lions were missing three players:
Vaki, the team’s fourth-string running back, has been dealing with an injury on and off for the entirety of training camp. He missed a big portion...
It’s finally here. Week 1 of the 2025 season is underway. But before we start breaking down the Detroit Lions’ opponent for the opener, the Green Bay Packers, it’s always nice to remind ourselves where this team sits from the perspective of national analysts.
Let’s take a look at this week’s power rankings:
“Here we go, man, 2025” — Dan Campbell
The Lions couldn’t have been happy to see Micah Parsons go to a very good Packers team. Detroit should still be considered a Super Bowl contender, but...
Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is heading into his second season, and it’s fair to say expectations are high for the 2024 first-round pick. Arnold showed a good amount of growth in his rookie season, and he’s turned heads all throughout training camp.
And it wasn’t just media and fans in attendance who have noticed a strong jump from Arnold this offseason. Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard offered some very high praise for the 22-year-old cornerback. After acknowledging how good Aidan Hutchinson has looked in training camp, [Sheppard told the Bleav in Lions podcast that Arnold has been the one...

The 2025 Detroit Lions have as high of expectations as ever. Despite the talk of regression, the Lions are still considered by most to be a realistic Super Bowl contender this year. Detroit went 15-2 last year, and it’s quite rare for a team that successful to fall off the following year.
But like every team, they are going to have to have some questions to answer, and some mountains to climb. So on this week’s PODcast, the gang does their best to identify the biggest questions to answer—and whether they’re legitimate concerns or just offseason fodder.
For example, how...

The Detroit Lions are where they are today because of the NFL Draft. The job general manager Brad Holmes has done at finding young talent has been incredible. And while the Lions roster has gotten to a point where it’s hard for a rookie to make a meaningful impact, that will likely be different for Detroit’s 2025 class. At least two of Detroit’s picks are expected to be Week 1 starters, while a third could very well find a big role in the opener in Green Bay.
So our staff has a tricky job predicting this year’s Detroit Lions Rookie...

As we enter the week leading up to the Detroit Lions’ Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers, the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook have set the opening betting line at Lions +2.5 points.
This betting line has undergone considerable movement since it was established back in May during the NFL’s schedule release. At that time, the Lions opened as 1.5-point favorites, but that number quickly changed as bets rolled in for the Packers, as the narrative surrounding the Lions was projecting a regression from last season. Within 24 hours, the line completely flipped to Packers -1.5 points, and...
